Joseph E. D’Souza D.D.S.


Dr. D’Souza is a 1983 graduate of the University of Iowa College of Dentistry. His graduate and undergraduate education was also received at the University of Iowa. He is a member of the American Dental Association, Iowa Dental Association, Davenport District Dental Society (past president), American Association of Endodontists, Davenport Chamber of Commerce and former Rotarian.

Along with a full-time private practice of general dentistry, Dr. D’Souza has been an adjunct professor in the Department of Endodontics at the University of Iowa since 1983. He supervised third-year dental students while they rotated through the department. Dr. D’Souza has engaged in clinical research and is the primary author of publications in the Journal of the American Dental Association and Journal of Endodontics.

Dr. D’Souza has presented papers and table clinics at national meetings of the American Association of Endodontists, and state meetings of the Iowa Dental Association. He has lectured at the University of Birmingham in the United Kingdom, and for Dental Study Clubs in Iowa.

As a violinist, Dr. D’Souza has played in community symphonies and string ensembles since the age of 11. He serves as a board member for several art and education institutions. He is also a mountaineer and has an instrument-rated private pilot’s license.

A native of India, he was born and raised in Nairobi, Kenya. His first job, while applying to university studies, was a tour guide for East African safaris.

Dr. D’Souza has three children and three grandchildren.

DaNae Krutzfeldt D.D.S.


Dr. Krutzfeldt grew up in Waterloo, Iowa. She attended Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa and received her Bachelor of Science degree. Her passion for dentistry began when she worked as a dental assistant for her father. She returned to school and graduated from the University of Iowa with her Doctorate of Dental Surgery. In 2009, Dr. Krutzfeldt’s husband, Paul, opened Great River Brewery in downtown Davenport, and Dr. Krutzfeldt joined Dr. D’Souza in private practice.

Dr. Krutzfeldt is a member of the American Dental Association, the Iowa Dental Association, the American Association of Women Dentists, the Academy of General Dentists and the International College of Dentists. She volunteers with the I-Smile and Silver Smile programs and the Give Kids a Smile Bethany Bus program. She is a YMCA board member at the Davenport YMCA.

Dr. Krutzfeldt is one of those crazy people that love running. She is a member of the Cornbelt running club and has run several half marathons. A marathon is on her bucket list.
